She was affectionately known as "Crackpot" by her grandad, James Archibald Briar. But known as "Slosh" by her second husband, Bill Fowler
She got her other nickname "Tont" from her parents because when she was very small she often used to rock backwards and forwards in her chair murttering "tonty-tonty-tonty-tont" to herself.
In 1930 she was living with her parents Maurice and Rose Briar at 19 Savernake Road (just to the south of Hampstead Heath). Due to Rose's TB they often moved to try to improve the air quality for her. Eventually though, Rose died of the TB in a sanatorium on the Isle of Wight in 1931
